I write the stuff I wish someone had handed me before my first trip to the Caribbean side.
I lived in Costa Rica for five years. I met my wife there, and I've been going back ever since. The Caribbean coast, from Cahuita down through Puerto Viejo, Cocles, Playa Chiquita, Punta Uva and Manzanillo, is the part of the country I know best and love most.
Why this site exists
Most of what you find about the Caribbean side is either a booking site or a two-day blog post. I wanted one place with strong opinions that's also honest about the downsides: the rain, the rough surf, the stuff that goes missing if you leave it on the beach.
